We went birthday shopping today and got everybody’s ideas in order. On the way back from Tractor Supply and Walmart we went through the local Amish community and where all of the tourists stops are. we stopped at a flea market and I found two really nice things, a sad iron, and an antique trunk. We got the trunk for Beau’s birthday (he never reads my blog, so it is safe to tell you, and his sister tells him I will pay her back on her birthay ) anyway it is real cowboy looking. I really don’t know that he ever thought of wanting one but it just seemed the right thing at the right time. I asked the guy what he wanted for it and he said, “well, I told the last lady I would take $50 for it”, but since the last lady didn’t buy it I thought he might take less. We settled at $25 and he was smiling while he took it to the car, and literally squeezed it in. We have another old trunk we got for taking a barn down once, this one isn’t as heavy but still nice. For some reason I was thinking hope chest for girls and cowboy stage coach trunk for my son. It fits him. as long as he doesn’t go anywhere. I love my children.
Oh and the sad iron was for Hannah, just for fun. She had been wanting one likeour neighbors. Knowing my Hannah she probably prayed that sad iron and that whole flea market into existence. did I ever tell you about the rodeo we went to when she felt sorry for the calves? After the second one had been wrestled, you could tell she was sincerely sad. After 12 more attemps with no ropings and a bunch of now sad cowboys I asked her, “are you praying they don’t get the calves?” She smiled. Not another calf was roped all night. Did I tell you I love my children?
