Well, it is getting cold around here in TN. Had the woodstove going all day yesterday. That time of year. And every time I look the weather page is saying “FREEZE WARNING”. That means some things are done, and others are just beginning. So for those of you in the same boat I have a “to do” tackle list for preparing for the first cold snap. This will probably be a hard freeze so extra measures should be taken. Are you ready?
- close all storm windows
- check all vehicles for anti-freeze
- drain garden hoses (ever tried to use a frozen hose)
- bring all possible plants in, or cover well
- make sure nobody left a water bottle in the vehicles
- make sure there is plenty of wood
- make sure there are plenty of beans, chili weather is here!
- sadly, very sadly pick the rest of the tomatoes even though they are green
- gather any other remaining harvest
- have extra blankets ready
- make sure any exposed pipes are wrapped
so that is how you prepare for the first “freeze warning” when you live in the country, how are things where you live? for more Tackle it Tuesday posts click here

We’ve had freeze warnings here for the last 2 nights. I need to see about getting winterizing done, too. Great tackle! 😀
Have a great day!
