I love kitchen tools. I mean I LOVE kitchen tools! I actually love all things domestic. Why? Probably because my mom was not and I made a vow to myself that I would make up for that. I love sewing (and collecting antique sewing machines) I love baking things, I love cookbooks, and I love aprons, yes we probably have 20. But I don’t necessarily like modern looking things. I have a rustic kitchen with lots of real wood and I have an old fashioned wood cookstove (more for looks, but occasional use) and I love anything domestic and old fashioned, what you young folks would call old school.
So when my friend Marci (who is like my long lost twin) asked if I wanted to try something from her store Amazing Graze (and I love that name) I jumped on it!! And this is what she sent. AND I get to give one away too!
So what is this thing? Well I will give you a clue, my 90 yr old neighbor has one, and he is extremely wise so it has to be worth having. Can you guess? It is an oven stick!! You use it to push in the pan on the rack, you use it to push the rack into place, you use it to pull the rack back out and I even used it to turn a pan around!! All without burning myself, or burning the house down using a dishtowel, which is what I used to use, because who knows where the oven mitt was. It is wood, and it feels good in your hand, it has enough weight to feel sturdy, and it even has a leather string to hang it by. So it works great AND it looks good in my kitchen!! I’d love to have this; love old-school things also! The last thing I baked in the oven was bruschetta (sp?) with peppers and fresh mozzarella and it would have been nice to have this oven stick!
