Starting Friday I will post everyday about something I am thankful for. I invite you to join me. Each day you may add by comment, letting us know what you are thankful for and if you write a blog, leaving a link to your own post. Feel free to grab the scripture card or button below and use on your own blog.
- Today I am thankful that I am loved by the one who created love.
- Today I am thankful for family, they are the greatest gifts God has given me after Himself 🙂
- Today November 3 rd I am thankful for the beautiful colors of fall, they are a bit late changing this year but absolutely beautiful!
- Nov 4, today I am thankful for my home. Somedays I want to complain, it is an old old house, always needs something and there is a lot of upkeep. Fencing always to be done, and more maintenance than there are folks to do it. Farms are a lot of work. But honestly if I had an opportunity to trade it all in, I can’t think of anything I would rather have. Thank you Jesus for my home.
- Today I am thankful for healing, God is good whether we need need healing in the body, soul, emotions, relationships, He is faithful!
- Today I am thankful for my grandchildren. It is hard to describe the love you have for a grandchild, it is like the God love He gives you for your own children but with an extra measure. An extra depth. Kind of like an ice cream Sundae with an extra cherry on top
. Only better!
- Today I am thankful for my home gym. We used to have a gym membership and although it was very affordable on the family plan, it cost too much. It didn’t cost too much money, it cost too much time. I love my family and I love my “out in the country” home and I have too many things to do to spend drive time and such just to exercise. It just didn’t fit with our routine. But I desperately need to stay in shape. So we bought a treadmill. Then we bought a second one, and some really nice weight equipment, and a tanning bed, and a flat screen wall mount and a nice stereo system. And actually all that cost next to nothing except my personal, read between the lines, nobody gets to touch, my personal treadmill. Because I have been known to put 50-75 miles a week on it. We take things serious around here. And it works for us. I am extremely thankful that the Lord provided in a way that is specific for us. He is a personal God
- Today I am thankful that God gives me answers when I ask
. Can you imagine life without a savior? Without help?
- Today I am thankful for encouraging friends!! They are truly a gift.
- Today I am thankful for modern technology. It can give us headaches at times, and it can be used in a wrong way, but when used properly it increases communication, helps relationships, helps us serve one another better, and it is is so much fun to look up facts and trivia on google! We like to watch movies about historical times and I love that I can look up and add facts to the story. It also enables us to share with other believers across the world, and to know what is really going on in other places. Lord, please help us to be faithful with these powerful tools
- Today I am thankful I live in a place where I can still freely worship my God.
- Today I am thankful for my friends and family that are non-competitive, I am thankful when we can openly share our gifts and talents and learn from one another.
- Today I am thankful for family breakfasts! I am not sure who started this, I think it was my Homemaker Hannah, but since 3 of my daughters are married with children of their own, get together suppers don’t always work as easy as they used to, so we sometimes gather for brunch. And it is a country style feast, that rivals Cracker Barrel. And the people I love are here cooking together, and my huge kitchen is filled and my big 10 ft table has lots of folks at it. God is so good and I am so thankful.
- Today I am thankful for home business. It allows us to work as a family and to be spontaneous to do things spur of the moment. Like the things I mentioned yesterday. God is in control of our scheduling and I am so thankful.
- Today I am thankful for the fact that I can do blog giveaways, I LOVE to give things away, I truly do! I am blessed to have contacts that provide gifts, and I am blessed to be able to give them.
- Today I am thankful for my oldest daughter’s voice. I used to say that she could sing “Happy Birthday” and you could feel God’s presence, and it is true, but today she sang the national anthem at a rodeo, she often sings at such events, and you could feel God’s presence in that too. Her voice is a gift from God, and an answer to a prayer I prayed long ago. In this day and age when so many, in fact many, take the gifts God has given them and use them for self promotion, fame and fortune, it is nice to see one who recognizes where her gift comes from, and gives it back to Him. I also appreciate that she has remained humble. That is a gift from Him too. Thank you Lord Jesus.
- Today I am thankful for God’s love, and that it gives us what we need to forgive.
- Today I am thankful for good neighbors. And pecan trees
. And good neighbors with pecan trees. And daughters that are fun to work with. And pecan cookies. And pecan pies. And daughters that can cook. And neighbors that are fun to eat pecan pie with. And my youngest daughter who makes the best pecan oatmeal breakfast ever.
- Today I am thankful for good parents. I always knew I was loved. They are no longer here and some days I sure do miss them.
- Today I am thankful for my woodstoves, we have a big one in the living room and a cookstove in the kitchen. We also have modern appliances but they are not the focus, and it is funny because most folks don’t notice them.We restored this and installed it back in 2009, it is often blazing in the kitchen and I am sooooo thankful! You can read about it here
- Today I am thankful for the creativeness of my own children. My oldest daughter who owns her own clothing business, that she design, creates and sews, sometimes will just sit and create for the ones in our own family
. This was the result of her day of relaxing creativity recently. God is good and gives us great gifts, creativity is one of them, and He is so good to not give it all to us the same, which makes them all the more appreciated.
- Today I am thankful for the ability to hear God’s voice. He says that if we are His we will recognize His voice. That isn’t always easy these days with so much noise from every angle. You have to stop, be still and listen, and you have to know His character to know that it is Him.A few years ago my children that usually feed the horses were gone for the evening and I was covering that chore. I went to the fence to throw the hay over into the feeders and I called, “horses!” Just like my daughter did. But nothing happened. Now my horses know me and many will come by name, but they don’t know me the way they knew my daughter at that time. They knew her that way because that was something she did daily with them. You will recognize God’s voice when you spend time with Him and know His character through knowing His Word.
- Today I am thankful for ministry opportunities. This time of year especially there is an opportunity at every corner. We were at Hobby Lobby yesterday and the lady at the fabric counter was having a hard day, not a grouchy day, a hard day. Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite places, I love their coupons, but I imagine it would be a bit tough to work there and have to figure what coupon can be used on what and how and where. Well it was early in the morning but she had already done tons of figuring, and from the sounds of it it hadn’t all been done exactly right. But she was nice. And the customer complaining was rude. Anyway when it was my turn to get my fabric cut I slowed down the pace and waited for her to look at me and then said something to the effect of, it’s ok, you are going to have a great day. Oh. My. Goodness. She looked at me like I had just given her the world! Normally I am in a hurry, but I always try to stop and listen to God’s voice and ask Him if He would have me share something with someone. Glad I got that one, blessed me more than her probably, and she appeared to be pretty blessed. God is good.
- Today I am thankful for the fact that an old dog can indeed learn new tricks. Not that I am calling myself an old dog, but I have learned a ton of new stuff this past year
- Today I am thankful for the ability to write. In the Old Testament they were told to write their experiences down for future generations. I am thankful that I can write for future generations, and I hope that they hear Him in what I write.
- Today I am thankful for a fun upcoming week, and good cooks.
- Today I am thankful for Wednesdays, they tend to be the “everybody at Mom’s house” day.
- Today I am extremely thankful that I taught my girls to cook, and I am blessed that any one of them can do a whole Holiday meal all by themselves if needed, but together is so much more fun! Also today I am just plain thankful that I can appreciate thankfulness, and Jesus, and little girls who know how to pray. And turkey, and pie, and all the other things that make a fun family Holiday, and family pictures.
- Today I am thankful that I get to stay home, I love my home. I love my family and I love the fact that I really don’t have to leave home for hardly anything unless I want to.
- Today I am thankful for a really blessed month.
So blessed that so many folks are celebrating Thanksgiving all month! I’m celebrating here: http://www.squidoo.com/IAMTHANKFUL
