A sinkhole is seen in downtown Guatemala City on May 31. Authorities blamed the heavy rains from tropical storm Agatha as the cause of the crater that swallowed a three-story building, and say they will also be conducting further studies to determine the cause. In April 2007, another giant sinkhole in the same area killed three people.

This looks so absurd it doesn’t even look real. We have sinkholes in TN and they are not uncommon, but not usually big enough for buildings to fall into. And even the smaller ones around here give me an uneasy feeling. Can you imagine this? It swallowed a three story building! That should be enough to put the fear of God into folks, we are daily at His mercy. Sinkholes are normal in the earths surface especially in certain areas. I thought this graphic below was interesting. Every day is the right day to get right with Jesus 🙂 .

Thanks for sharing this Penny! I had to go look at the photos on National Geographic news – it looks almost unreal from this angle.
