our deep freeze died and we are currently using just the freezer side of our fridge, we don’t have any packaged foods, just stuff we buy in bulk then seperate and put in ziplocks, they stack well and it works for us, our staples are chicken leg quarters, bout in 10 pound bags at less than 5 dollars, and ground beef, bout when less than $1.50 per pound, then rice, potatoes, pasta but that goes in the pantry, and we make bread, although if you have a bakery thrift store that is cheaper, then whatever fresh veggies are on sale

Please enter me! 🙂
My favorite is “First Things First”.
Thank you!

Hi Penny,
Thanks so much for responding so quickly.
We actually have 2 refrigerators (one we bought years ago, before moving here & the other is our Landlords). We have cut out almost all snacks. Maybe popcorn- but that’s all. I read where we can make microwave popcorn using a small paper bag & popcorn kernels. Forget where I read it, so don’t have all the directions.
We could make it on the stove, but I am afraid of it getting too hot.
We buy bulk at Sam’s. Hubby said he is going to make a spreadsheet of catergories of `everything` we spend money on. I think our biggest amount should be spent on HS. I consider it as something that will last them a lifetime. He wants to spend money on (entertainment- something to do with our boys). So we disagree on where the money should go. I am honestly trying to be supportive, but my question to him is: will that benefit them in the long run. Ultimately the `long-run` is Eternal Life. But, I do think we need to think of their future on earth. I hope that makes sense, I do realize Jesus could come back anytime. I am willing to make sacrifices so our boys will be prepared for their path of life. Perhaps we need a balance somewhere. These are things we were never taught. And it’s generational. Hubby is from a Very poor background. I am from a well-to-do but, not rich background. My parents gave to us/entertained us kids. And when the recession came in the 70’s my Dad was a General Contractor, lost that & went straight to the poor house. My siblings & I support our parents, otherwise they’d never make it. My oldest son has come near banrupcty (he is 27). He is going through a Christian Debt Consolidation Agency. They are helping him pay back money he owns and teaching him how to have a budget. The 2 younger boys I plan to do a Consumer Math class with, before they graduate.
Anyway, sorry so long. If you would like to post this that is fine. Maybe someone else is having problems too. I think having this recession has woken us up making us ask ourselves `Where do we want to be 10 – 20yrs from now`?
Blessings,
Michelle

Wow, I’ve been realy trying to win this movie! DH and I are hoping to have additions to our family (God willing) in the next few years and Thriving on one income would really help us achieve that goal without too much pain.
