Well, the New Year is, wait let me look again, yep, the day after tomorrow. My, my, how time fies. Do you know that God expects us to be responsible with the time He has given us? Many many years ago I used to work in sales. My employer sent us to a very good sales seminar taught by a successful guy with Godly principles, I learned a lot. Two of the things I strongly remember even 20 something years later, are this,
- Never try to sell something to someone that you cannot honestly believe will improve their life.
- To always be doing the most productive thing possible with every given moment.
Now those are both statements of wisdom you can live by. And for those of you who don’t think you ever “sell”, have news for you, we all “sell” something all day long. We sell each other on ideas, thoughts, and ways of life every time we open our mouths. So that first rule is one we should take to heart, very seriously. How often have you said something unkind about someone or something to someone who trusts you? You probably “sold” them on your opinion, and it may not have improved their life. Watching what comes out of our mouths would probably be a good goal for the new year. And now, onto goals …..
I do not like to use the word “resolution” because to me it screams FAILURE. I don’t know why, maybe it is just me. And it also insinuates that the world is going to end if you break it. I rather like to think of plans and purposes.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish” — Proverbs 29:18
But I like to know that my plans are directed by God.
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”
—Proverbs 19:21
So that is my goal today, to pray about the plans He has for me this upcoming year and then map them out, tomorrow I get out the new calendar and start writing things in. Then I get out the planner and start making goals, and plans to attack those goals. Join me tomorrow. Join me today, today we pray, today we ask for direction. How is that for a tackle it Tuesday?

Hi! I just discovered your site. Love it. Yes, we are entering the new year prayerfully and goalfully… We just challenged each of our children at morning devotions to think about the new year and start planning for changing for the better. I’d like to know what the “At the Well” is like also..

I am going to try to use my calendar more this year. I typically start out really well, but then by July I can’t find it at all!
Great post and tackle!
There are so many times that I call on the Lord for help or the angels & saints. For the simplest things. I ask what I should make for meals or budgeting.
With money being tight tithing becomes a changelle so I ask God to help me find ways to be chartiable. I know it isn’t always about money so my mind is open for his ideas.
