I think this is one of those posts that will grow and grow all day. What is my main focus today? Prayer for our country. Especially for the ones who claim to live for Jesus. We cannot serve two masters. We cannot live for ourselves and the Lord at the same time. We must choose. We must humble ourselves and repent.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
2Chronicles 7:14-15
Repent for what? Millions of babies slaughtered, how much have we prayed for them. Repent for what? for being coveting, greedy, self-centered, and teaching our children to be the same. Repent for what? Not speaking up for the cause of Christ enough becaue we want to “fit in”. Repent for what? Being lukewarm, and compromised. Repent for what? Giving Jesus “lip service” instead of true worship. Repent for what? Not being real. Repent for what? Giving only what we have to to get by, but not giving of our hearts. Repent for what? Allowing prayer to be taken out of school. Repent for what? Exposing our children to immorality in the public school system. Repent for what? Repent for what? Repent for what? You fill in the rest of the blanks.
“Lord, we know that we deserve judgement yet we cry out for mercy. We know that it may take judgement to bring mercy and we say, “your will be done”. We know that “bearing one another’s burdens” is not optional but rather part of your Kingdom, and when one body part suffers we all suffer. And we still say, “your will be done”. Oh Lord, you are the only one who sees the whole picture, we place our future of this country in your hands, do what it ultimately the best for your Kingdom. We say, “your will be done”. As scary as it is, we will trust in you. Do what you must to turn your people back to you. Your will be done. Please heal our land.”
