the economy is bad but God is good

What a fun week. Wednesday evening I took 2 of my older children to see Fireproof. Parenting tip, if you want to know where your young people are then do things with them 🙂 . We had 2 free gift coupons but there were 3 of us. For some unexplainable reason the manager gave us the other one free. The movie was great, the crowd was great. And they didn’t even show any previews! Wonderful. We even had some free gift coupons for snacks but the movie was so good we never went to get them.

Friday morning I had to go to the bank and the post office and find a way to stretch the money to pay all the bills. When I drove by the gas station I noticed a big crowd and looked up at the price to find that it had dropped 50 cents a gallon. I always feel like I am gambling these days at the gas pump. Should I fill up or should I wait?  Will it go up or will it go down?  Then I went to the little local market and in the dollar section they had some really great gourmet pasta for $1 for 2 pounds! Then I went to the dollar store to get some motor oil and the manager told me she had a special on hats and gloves. They were last years but exactly the same as this years, and brand new. 30 cents! So once again, even though the economy is bad God is good! Really good.

Then we went to our neighbor’s farm to help him raid his apple trees. This adventure will become a book. He has different varities of apple trees than we do and he has an old john deer with a front loader. we put children with buckets in the front loader and he lifts them up onto the trees to pick. We got several 5 gal bucketfuls. Then we went back to his barn where he had the most incredible antique apple mill and cider press. Our electric juicer probably gets more juice out but this was much more fun. Pictures and the whole story coming soon.
