This was hibernating in the firewood. We split a log and out he fell. Eeeeks! It was actually much smaller than this looks like, I zoomed in. Does anybody know what kind of snake this was? I say was because after we woke him up, he was MAD!
This year has been the best harvest ever. We found fruit and nut trees we didn’t even know we had. These are hickory nuts and they taste incredible.
This is an antique pot belly cookstove. An Atlanta Stove Works Whopper #205 . My oldest daughter found it a yard sale and bought it for $10 for me. I feel loved 🙂 very loved. Anybody know anything about this model?
After we though the garden was nearly done and had even let the horses in part of it, these were a big surprise, more egglants! Nobody knew they were still growing out there. We went out to get some last minute peppers and brought these in too!
I love living in the country 🙂 except for maybe the snakes.
Very interesting photos, and how nice to have fruit and nut trees! We found some walnut trees in the woods behind the fields a few weeks ago…. and an apple tree. I’ll have to go back to see if there are still fruit and nuts there!
Thanks so much for your comments on my blog and adding me to your facebook…. i see a long and enjoyable relationship ahead! 🙂
Blessings!

no screamin here, we just make a science lesson out of it, name that snake!
We have an abundance of walnut trees in our woods. Maybe we should harvest some! I didn’t know you could eat hickory nuts!

Emma, my resident reptile-lover, says that is a King snake. Probably an Eastern King snake.
I love that pot bellied stove!
Hi, I have the same exact wood stove with all parts and in working condition. Cannot find any age. I know the Company existed from 1889 to 1957. I would think our stoves would have been made in the 50’s but have no proof…only speculation.
Your stove is not a pot belly, it is a coal fired laundry stove.
thanks for the info!
