The saddest thing happened here today. We have these birds around here that sound like a cat in distress. I have no idea what kind of birds they are, but they are annoying. Add to that one of our momma kitties disappeared, leaving behind 4 very loudmouthed orphan kittens. We wondered why they were so noisy, then we realized that we hadn’t seen the momma. She has a sister that is nearly a twin so it wasn’t all that obvious. Have you ever noticed that you can have two absolutely identical objects and your children can tell them apart? It amazes me. So anyway, lately, I am always hearing this noise, noise, noise. Well this afternoon I was hearing this “cat in distress” sound but I could tell from the direction it was coming from that it was one of those strange birds. And boy was she upset. And her cry kept getting more and more distressed. We finally went outside to see what her deal was and boy was it sad. There she was about 50 feet up in a huge maple tree having a fit, while a snake was stealing her eggs, or maybe it was her babies, either way she was beyond beside herself. There was nothing we could do.

Goodness! Poor birdie! I have three parrots (my feathered kids) , so my heart is pretty sensitive towards the feathered variety. We had a bird make a nest in our rose bush this summer and raise 2 babies there…what a sweet sight it was to see right outside my bedroom window! I love birds and nature!

Awwwe, that is a sad event! Our friend borrows our field for her goats, and she put a young buck in there the other day. He was small enough to climb through the gate so we tied him up until the gate could be meshed. Sonny found him this morning. He got tangled around a tree and strangled himself last night. 🙁
