In keeping with Crystal Paine’s “Making My Home A Haven” meme, today I want to share about our attitudes as Mommas. Last night I was awakened by who knows what around 1:30. But as I lay there I started to pray and began to think of more and more needs and concerns and it seemed like I was getting more focused on the things that needed praying about than I was on praying. I really had already prayed, and He had heard all I had to pour out, it was time to just let go of it. I have done what I can do, now it is time to trust. So I lay there trying to go back to sleep. At about 2:30 the dogs starting barking. I didn’t hear the usual coyotes in the background but our dogs don’t bark for no reason. So I prayed some more. Then I got up to see what was making them bark. Coudn’t see anything. I went back and forth a few times then just decided to get up for awhile. Looked at some sites online that I had been feeling like I needed to check on. Some serious stuff. The Lord confirmed that I did indeed need to keep close tabs on my youngins. I need Him to confirm things for me so I know it is Him and not me. You know the comments you hear, “you’re too protective”. Yeah well, this Momma does what God leads. Maybe I will share some of this serious stuff later. Anyway I finally went back to bed and back to sleep around 4:30. I usually get up around 6, but actually slept till about 6:30. Then there was a very loud very enthusiastic chicken who wanted to tell the world she had just laid an egg, right outside my bedroom window, she continued on with her announcement for about 45 minutes. Going right along with that serenade was our jersey heifer Dairy Queen, announcing to the world that she would like to be a Momma (you farm folks know what I mean here), she was loud too. I laid there in bed with all of this annoying noise going on and did what? What do you think I did? I stayed there in bed and prayed some more. Because sometimes it is better to stay in bed and pray until you are posotive you can face your day with the right attitude, especially when you have had no sleep. Getting up early is good, but getting up with a right attiude is better. Of course now it is peacefuly quiet out there.

I always pray when I can’t sleep either.
Apparently the Lord has us to do so.
We do need to keep close tabs on our youngin’s.
Not many people think we need to though.
Many people say I am too protective also but PTL I have not listened to them.
I am glad that another mama is too protective too.
Blessings,
Melanie

Good point!! I have been getting up earlier, and my attitude has been much better, but it’s my attitude that does make the difference. 🙂 Nothing we do will matter unless we do it cheerfully.
Julies last blog post..Not again!
