In response to my own post of June 3rd “the dime is squeezing me” I am hosting a carnival of sorts this week. Or maybe it will become a meme. I don’t know where it will go, but for this week, let’s encourage each other. We will start today with 101 ways to decrease your outgo. You may add a link to your own post, or add by comment. If you add a link to your own post, please make it specific to that post.
On Wednesday I have a really great opportunity for y’all and we will start with 101 ways to increase your income! I have a feeling we will exceed the 101 number on both.
Please spread the word and tell your friends!
Ok, ready, set, go……
Ok, y’all are moving too slow…here are my tips…and I will keep adding to them
turn down the AC ♥ turn off the AC ♥ use cloth napkins ♥ use dish towels instead of paper towels ♥ reuse zip-lock baggies ♥ use canning jars or tupperware for leftovers ♥ actually eat the leftovers ♥ water down your shampoo ♥ water down your laundry soap ♥ water down your dish soap ♥ only buy meat that is less than $1.79 per pound ♥ buy in bulk and seperate into useable servings ♥ turn off light ♥ use timers on light that get left on ♥ turn down the temp on the water heater ♥ use an automatic timer on the water heater ♥ convert your water heater to solar ♥ cook from scratch ♥ compile all trips that require driving into 1 day a week when you are already going somewhere ♥ line dry your clothes ♥ keep jugs of water in your freezer if there is extra space ♥ if you live in the country buy a dairy cow ♥ or goats ♥ and chickens ♥ grow everything you can and learn to put up ♥ get stuff you need from freecycle ♥ use vinegar and water to clean ♥ sleep farmer hours, up with the sun, down with the sunset ♥ reuse towels for several days, you’re clean after a shower right? ♥ borrow, lend and barter with neighbors ♥ do all baking on one day per week ♥ calculate mileage and cost before making a trip ♥ learn to harvest seeds and save them ♥ take light bulbs out of fixtures that take more than 1 ♥ use lower watt bulbs ♥ use the ice dispenser on the outside of the fridge instead of opening door ♥ hang quilts over the windows when the temp is below freezing ♥ block off unused rooms when the weather is extremely hot or cold ♥ drink water ♥ trade hand me downs ♥ buy the Sunday paper to plan your shopping around the sales/coupons ♥ only use coupons when it makes the purchase cheaper than the store brand ♥ go to stores that honor others’ ads ♥ hand wash instead of using dishwasher ♥ drive a 4 cylinder ♥ use wood heat ♥
I’m a little tired dealing with “link this and add that” from trying to set up SocialSpark. But I want to add this one thing.
Reduce outgo:
Remove the A/C from your car in summer. You’ll refuse to go anywhere unless absolutely necessary, and you won’t waste gas idling since you’ll be running to the next air-conditioned dwelling ASAP! I guess it could work for heat in the winter! LOL!
Great site. Have a great day.
Blessings
I hadn’t seen your list yet and these are absolutely fantastic. Thanks for taking the time to compile this and to share!

The best thing about being frugal is that it’s (usually) environmentally friendly, too!
Good list!
