Well we have tons and I mean tons of tiger lilies that grow here. And they should be blooming at just the right time. But actually trusting that nothing equine, bovine or canine will lay in those soft leaves is a bit of a stretch for me. So just in case, or actually probably in addition to those lilies. I have a very reasonable alternative. Back to my favorite store, but only when I get it half-off. Hobby Lobby! Silk flowers by the stem are just as much if not more than real, but you can also buy them as bushes! One bush of lilies costs 5.99 but when you get it half price it is only $3. With one bush you can
- wrap the stem with tulle and put in a vase
- make 3-4 pew decorations
- make 2 bouquets
- make 6 each, boutonnieres and corsages
- make centerpieces
- decorative ring on cake
- and so on
now I plan to use the silk ones for sure in the pew decorations, with some fresh baby’s breath or whatever is available in my yard for the boutonnieres and maybe even corsages and bouquets, and for sure I will pull the flowers off to scatter on the tables at the reception around the candles or however we do it. I will give you more pictures as we move along here. But doing things this way and adding in real flowers as available it is much lower stress for me. And THAT WORKS FOR ME!
My friend’s mother-in-law had a wonderful idea for wedding flowers…she planted a wonderful garden of flowers at my friend’s house at the beginning of the summer. When my friend got married in August, they harvested the “wedding garden” for all of her flowers. Great gift to give and receive! Good luck and congratulations!
