Well I have been reading a book called
Simpler: Declutter Your Life and Focus on What’s Most Important
and will be reviewing it later but I first want to share that it has just really been confirmation of what the Lord has been saying to me for at least the last year.
So before I get into more I want to invite you to take part in my project here. List the top 20 (or 50) things you spend time on in an average week. Then rewrite them in order of importance, prioritize. Then rewrite them a second time in order of value, how important the results of said action will be 10 years from now. Then rewrite them again in order of how much results they produce.
You should have 4 lists. Compare them. Are the top items the same in each list? If not then you probably need some re-evaluating too.
Sometimes we spin our wheels getting nowhere. Sometimes we do things that seem to have no purpose but we know it pleases the Lord or someone close to us, (spouse). Sometimes we just do without thinking about it and there is no real purpose.
I for one am about to pare down my list. In the last few years I have purged a lot, A LOT, and it is time for more. Even in the area of relationships. I am not talking about dumping folks out of my life, but rather handing them over to Jesus, again. There is no reason to damage your own health worrying over something only Jesus can handle. And there is no reason to hold on to a lot of things (activities, stuff, relationships) that either have no value or produce any real results that count for anything. I have always been a very driven person, I was raised that way. And I get a lot accomplished, but sometimes I have to admit that some things just don’t count for much. And if things I spend time on don’t produce results, in ways that matter, then it is not what I am supposed to be doing. Writing things like this however is what I am supposed to be doing, so expect more on the subject.
So .. all that to say … Happy Wednesday!
and .. your thoughts?
