As usual Robin Sampson puts evrything it it’s proper order, her article

To Christmas or Not to Christmas? Holiday Dilemmas

How do you feel about Christmas?

Do you observe it differently now compared to how you observed it when you were a child? Do you observe it at all? Did you know Christmas has pagan roots? Does that bother you?

Don’t get nervous. I’m not going to tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing this time of year. I can’t because I don’t have it all sorted out myself…….  read the rest here

I will be sharing my own Christmas journey here late today or tomorrow.

  • Boy, the things they don’t teach you in Church. So, that means the Jehovah Witness were right all along?

The pressure of trying to have a nearly perfect Christmas has been difficult the last few years. But the stresses of Chanukah aren’t really much different. I was raised in a Jewish community – I got to experience both. And my Jewish friends used to love to come over to decorate the tree.

And the wisemen did travel far, and brought gifts.

I think the greed factor has gotten out of hand to where it’s just not sustainable. Just like the price of gas, and real estate, and food, and… and we have to get back to a more rational way of life. I don’t think that we worship the tree, or even Santa. But that verse from Deuteronomy did throw me. God does not want to be worshipped in pagan style.

So what does that mean? It’s an awful lot to digest in one sitting…
