keeping a stocked pantry

Not only does it help save money to stock up when things are on sale, it sure is handy to have a stocked pantry when things like storms arise. Our freezer is so stuffed that having the powr out for awhile wasn’t a problem. Meat is one thing I keep the freezer full of. Currently our freezer is full of pork roast at 99¢ a pound. Venison that was free.  Chicken leg quarters that were 49¢ a pound. And ground beef that was $1.59 a pound. I buy lots when it is on sale and we put in freezer bags in the right amounts.

That makes my Friday Frugal without me leaving the house on this very slushy day.

shoveling out the south

Well, the van is ok, the tree was small enough and it is a big van. Other than lots of limbs, most things outside are Ok. The roads are still a mess. The power came back on at 3AM.  Of course all kinds of things had been on when it went out, so all kinds of things suddenly came on. And I jolted awake. And couldn’t get back to sleep because there were things that needed doing.  One thing that did not fare well was my Hughes satellite dish. I can’t stand satellite internet anyway, but with a repair bill it is even more distasteful. But it is better than 24kbps dial up. Hughes said it will be 3-5 working days before somebody can come out. We will see. At least we should have warmer weather coming in the next few days. Right now it is slushy and gross and messy. This morning it was beautiful. I have tons of pictures, if I can upload them I will share.

I may be slow but I will do what I can to keep up in the next few days.
