biblical holidays- Yom Kippur

From my dear friend Robin Sampson’s blog,

Tonight at dusk is the beginning of Yom Kippur. The proper greeting for this holiday is, “May you have an easy fast.” Today is known as Erev Yom Kippur, representing a person’s last opportunity to seek forgiveness from other people before Yom Kippur begins.

Robin is one of the most incredible bible teachers I know. She brings it all into an understandable place. I encourage you to take a look her blog and her many sites. I promise you will be blessed

just for me

Do you remember my Word Filled picture last Wednesday? I showed you our dried up lake. it is really about the size of a pond but technically a lake because it has (or is supposed to have) fresh water flowing into it. But that fresh water comes from a spring and a spring flows from the underground water table, and when the water table is too low, nothing flows. But I have faith and just knew God would not allow things to go too far. Even though we had a really nice spring season it wasn’t enough to raise the water table where it neeed to be and about 3 weeks ago things started looking very dire. However yesterday it started raining, and it kept raining. We ended up getting 2.57 inches in 24 hours. So things are now flowing again. I went for a walk this morning to take some pictures, this is what I found.

wet hens that said, “it was just for me”

a lake with lots of muddy water but fresh water flowing into it

and there were deer thinking, “it was just for me”

and there was a horse named Trigger that thought, “it was just for me”

and there were two dairy cows that said, “it was just for me”

and here were swimming ducks quacking, ‘it was just for me’

and there were renegade horses on the wrong side of the fence getting into the winter’s supply of hay thinking, “but I know it was just for me”

and then finally my front yard birdbath just waiting for some bird who will say, “it was just for me”

because when it is all said and done, if you..

“Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

I know, I am a rebel

Now that sounds bad doesn’t it? But I mean it in a good way, you know Jesus was a rebel too. He rebelled against the religious system, He rebelled against the traditions of man. He rebelled gainst anything that was not of His Father. So it is perfectly ok for me to rebel against wrong things, and it makes me feel better. One of my favorite ways to rebel against high prices is to give things away. I don’t know, just doing the opposite feels good :) . Yes my children do think I am weird.

So, since prices are high on everything including my overpriced internet service which is failing to work properly because, oh my it is raining, I am giving things away today. If you go to my new bookstore and look at the tabs on the top and click on the freebie of the day, you can get my newest book free as a download. If you sign up for my newsletter you will get another. And just because I love you, I am going to give you my Chocolate Cobbler recipe free here, just click here. And today is also the last day of our Holiday Apron giveaway see the post below this one or click here. We will be drawing for this at one minute past midnight central time, and posting the winner tomorrow morning .  And I don’t know I might just add something else. Keep a look on my front page today. Because rebelling against bad with something good woks For Me this Wednesday!
