This weeks topic is worship, and is hosted by LauraLee, here are her questions:
A “Call to Worship” is usually at the beginning of a church service to prepare hearts and minds for worship together. What do you do or think you should do at the start of each day to prepare your heart and mind as a woman living a life of worship?
If you were to gather at the well with women younger than you in the faith, what would your call to worship be for them?
If your life, worship-wise, could be defined or with a song, which one would it be (or which one would you wish it to be)?
Hmmm, how do I start my day with an attitude of worship? Well it starts way before daybreak. I have this habit of praying everytime I wake up. all night long, and actually before I go to sleep. With lots of children and a busy household, I am often the last one up and that is when the house is quiet. It can get pretty loud around here . But after everyone goes to bed it gets quiet. And i spend more time listening then talking when I pray. So I like it quiet sometimes. Some nights like last night, it seems like I wake up often so I use those times as an opportunity to pray more. and often when I wake up in the morning I will stay in bed a little longer and pray more. So when I start my day it is often after hours of prayer.
Here in the South we have saying, it is a question that is said more like a question, but doesn’y really expect an answer. I like it. When one approaches another they often say, “watcha know good?”. I love it because it doesn’t give room for complaining. I often use that same type of phrase but usually word it more like, “so what good things has the Lord been showing you?” It opens the door to speaking good of Him, which always leads to worship.
Worship songs, well my children are by far my favorite worship leaders. They sing prophetic songs to the Lord. the oldest two lead worship at our church. I think one of my favorites, is a song my daughter wrote entitled “Love That Chases”, about the love of the Lord, most folks don’t have a clue how much God loves them. Here are the lyrics, and you can hear it here lovechases.mp3. This recording as actually her singing it at a friend’s funeral. It was his favorite, he had a revelation of the Father’s love.
Love That Chases
VERSE1
WHEN THE SUN SETS AND WHEN IT WILL RISE YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE MY SIDE
WHEN MY SKIES ARE BLUE OR EVEN IF THEY’RE GRAY I KNOW YOU’RE HERE TO STAY
THROUGH THE PAIN AND THE TEARS THROUGH THE LOVE AND THE JOY
YOU ARE STILL HERE
WHEN I LAUGH OR WHEN I CRY WHEN I LIVE OR FEEL LIKE I DIE
YOU ARE HERE FOR ME
CHORUS
I CAN’T GET AWAY FROM THIS LOVE, THIS LOVE THAT CHASES ME
I CAN’T GET AWAY FROM THIS LOVE, THIS KIND OF LOVE THAT SETS ME FREE
VERSE2
YOUR PEACE SURROUNDS ME YOUR GRACE ABOUNDS IN ME YOUR LOVE FLOWS OVER ME
YOUR KISSES FLOOD MY FACE WHILE YOU DANCE ME WITH SUCH GRACE JUST SWEEP ME UP IN YOUR ARMS
YOU GRAB HOLD OF MY HANDS YOU SPIN ME IN THIS DANCE YOU NEVER LET ME GO
YOU HAVE A GRIP UPON MY HEART YOU’VE SEALED IT WITH LOVE YOUR EYES DANCE UPON ME LIKE A DOVE

Oh wow, love this post. You know what your definition reminds me of? There are a few verses in Psalm 139 that come to mind (verses 17 & 18):
“How precious to [b] me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I awake,
I am still with you.
Love the idea that if we are thinking of Him when we go to sleep, when we wake up, we’ll still be thinking of Him. 🙂
Your teaching on this really ministered to me. Thank you so much for meeting me at the well.
