We are originally from Southern California so we love studying languages. But actually learning to speak them has been a challenge. I am not sure if it because there isn’t as much opportunity or what, but living in TN just has not motivated us. However every year or so we have friends that are missionaries to Mexico that come to visit, and we get motivated for a little bit but then it fades away again. Well by george I think we finally have it!! I was sent this curriculum by the creator, and yes this is an affiliate link that blesses me and you, but my opinions are all my own. I have to chuckle every time I type that because if you know me you know I won’t say anything that isn’t true.
I took Spanish in high school and used to speak it pretty well, but then, well again we have been in TN for 20 years and it just isn’t the same as hearing it in CA constantly. I still understand it, but just question myself too much when speaking. Until now. Now we have Excelerate Spanish and oh my goodness we LOVE it!! Soon you will too.
Remember those early Sunday school activities where all the children sang “This Little Light of Mine” and blew the pretend candle out? And all those other great songs that had hand motions? Who remembers those songs? Everyone who did the motions that’s who! My Dad always taught me something that I have used repeatedly with my own children, the more senses you use the better you learn. You know, sight, smell, sound, touch and taste. Well “action” fits right in there somehow or another. When we experience something it helps us to remember. That is how Excelerate Spanish works. It gets you involved. And there is also a facebook page to keep you inspired!
Breaking News ~~ Just a quick note from the author: You can save 15% on the whole program during the month of May with the discount code MAYSAVINGS. Enjoy!
How in the world can a Spanish curriculum help you experience a lesson? Well, back to those Sunday school songs, there are hand motions, remember? Excelerate Spanish works the same way. Just put in that first DVD. Not only that but after a lesson or two you will think Caryn Hommel is a trusted friend and you feel like you know her! And it is fun!! There are motions you do and words you repeat, and skits and stories, and before you know it you are actually speaking and understanding Spanish within the first few minutes! It is wonderful, and since she dives right in and then goes back to add foundation it isn’t intimidating.
From the site …
The Excelerate SPANISH program is comprehensive, effective, and easy to use. Just pop in the lesson video on DVD, hit play, and you’re ready to go. Each lesson begins with an introduction of the new vocabulary and structures. You’ll see the words as they are listed on the whiteboard, hear their pronunciation, and model a gesture for each word or phrase. This gesturing, also known as Total Physical Response (TPR) is an important element of the Excelerate SPANISH program. Studies in brain functionality and linguistics show that TPR facilitates foreign language acquisition for all age groups. TPR activates various motor cortices of the brain, making it easier to learn Spanish than you’d ever thought possible!
And now YOU CAN WIN!! Open to US addresses. This is what you can win!!

We live an hour away from the Mexican border and our children visit there several times a year to minister. It would be awesome if they knew more Spanish than they do.

Our family hopes to one day walk the Camino de Santiago and we need to learn Spanish. 🙂 Hubby is disabled and we can’t afford nonessentials at this point. This would be such a blessing to our family. 🙂
