Well I think we have finally mostly thawed out. Sort of. I hear that news and social folks called this “the situation” or “the situation 2010” . What is that? I mean that sounds like some political mess up, lol. whatever they want to call it let me tell you it was a mess. Last night even after folks thought it was safe to go out and play there were 5 new vehicles in the ditch on the side of the road at the bottom of the hill on our road. It was not safe to come out yet. There was a tow truck nearby. He was so kind as to offer his services to the needy for $100+ a pop. Cash. How is that for Southern Hospitality? Folks that were reachable were pulled out by neighborly tractor owning farmers. But hey truth be told most of those folks didn’t really have to be out anyway. Some did, but some did not. That is one thing I love about TN, there are two excellent excuses for skipping work or school.
- a snow day, which usually really means ice
- a good day for fishing
Most places just closed up shop. Those that didn’t were there to serve the community. If you don’t really need to get out, please don’t. Save that tractor owning farmer some diesel, and let him stay safe and warm in his home especially since he was so well prepared.
Back to the weather, I here we have more on the way. Not just snow but what they call a wintry mix. But that brings me to share about the miracle in all of this. Our power never went out. Never. Now I have shared before, where we are located our power goes out the mere hint of a storm. The folks who answer the number you call to report service being out recognize my voice. I don’t even have to tell them who I am or where I live. But this time it never went out. Everybody I know lost power but us. Would you like to know why? Because y’all believe in the power of prayer. Before the storm I posted this
if I disappear ~ ice storm 2010
And I mentioned it on facebook and twitter. I got tons of responses that y’all were praying for us. It was greatly appreciated, THANK YOU! So, for everyone else it turned into “the situation” but for us it was mostly just a cozy weekend.
don’t forget, there is an apron giveaway going on and a freebie coming up Friday in my bookstore
