For this weeks WFMW the theme is avoiding summer boredom. Summer boredom never happens around here, we live on a farm. But for the sake of the rest of you, I have a tip. Find a neighbor who knows how to do something you don’t, preferably an old one, and help them out. This is what happens.
- they feel valued and loved
- you help them
- you learn a lot
- their wisdom is not wasted
- nobody is bored!
We have an older armer that lives down the road and he is incredible! He is a wealth of wisdom that is worth more than a college education. He can fix or repair anything. He has seen 80 something years of life and is a walking almanac. My children all have at one time or another helped him or worked for him and we come away better for it! Older folks these days are not as valued as they should be. Find one to help, in the long run you will be the blessed one.

Great tip. I grew up on a farm and we did this all of the time. We would help other farmers in the area and they’d help us. When I moved to the city, I didn’t even know my neighbors. Bad, I know.
