This weeks topic ~ Encouraging Daughters, your host…. Me!
As mothers we have the ability to shape future generations through our children. Our daughters are not only ours but first and foremost daughters of HIM. The relationship they have with Jesus will affect all they do, now in our homes and later in their own. Having a married daughter expecting her first child, I have been blessed to see this all come full circle, Well almost, the circle seems to grow bigger all the time. I am really excited about sharing this week
We have 5 daughters. Five. My goodness. Does God trust me that much? I mean, 5? Well that might not be overwhelming to you, but was to me. Especially the day I first realized that they would grow up to be young women. As a parent of 8 children I have had 2 overwhelming moments in my parenting life. One was about socks, that is a funny story you can find if you search my archives and the other was the day I realized my oldest daughter was not going to stay a little girl forever. I was not ready for that. She was 8. I remember crying and telling the Lord that I didn’t know if I would be able to teach her all about life, and everything she would need to know someday. How could I teach her so many things I myself was still learning. His answer was clear and simple. He said for me to teach her about Him, and then everything else would fall into place. Guess what? He was right. If I could only teach my daughters one thing in life it would be to worship Jesus. Not just “I did my duty” worship, but the kind of worship that brings the presence of the Lord right in the room with you. The kind of worship that brings Him so close you can feel His heart beat.
Our oldest is now 19, married, and expecting her own child next year. She is the most incredible worship leader I have ever heard. Thay all have talents and giftings. Our daughters can cook, bake, sew, can, garden, clean, break horses, drive tractors, load hundreds of bale of hay, teach their siblings and assist at homebirths, they are amazing, but none of that counts for much if they don’t know how to worship. Worship is what gets them through the hardships of life, the ups and downs. Worship is what reminds them that life is all about Him and not us. That is what makes them pillars of strength. That is what gives them the desire to serve, and the determination to accomplish whatever they are called to. Their identity is in Jesus, not in themselves. And when we know we are not alone, that He is by our side, we can do anything.
So, raising daughters is simple, that is the secret, teach them to love on Jesus.
Please share with us what the Lord has shown you in the area of encouraging your daughters. Link back here then leave the link to the the post on your own blog, and as always I appreciate your comments.

Penny, thanks for leading us AT THE WELL today and what a great topic. I have only been blessed with one daughter but oh how I would have been honored to have had more. But God saw “blue” in my destiny and blessed me with 3 sons first. Raising a daughter is so exciting, rewarding, and scary. What an awesome responsibility it is. To teach her to be a worshipper of the Lord like you said is to model that in front of her. Your words were very inspiring and I am sure with 5 daughters you have a story or two you could tell….

Hi Penny, and thank you for sharing and allowing me to share on this topic. My first 41 years of life was without God and so I didn;t raise my daughter to love the Lord, but thank the Lord that He allowed her to find Him in spite of me. Now that I have been saved these last 12 years, I try to encourage young women in the ways of the Lord by telling them how I am still reaping the things that I sowed in my realtionship with my husband and my children.

5 daughters!!! Oh my! I’ve raised 2 and now have 4 precious granddaughters.
I’m not really participating in this meme, but I’ve been peering over the fence a good bit lately. My post today, Legacy Moments – Love, fits so well with your closing statement, “Teach them to love Jesus”.
Both my daughters love their daugthers, their husbands, their children and most importantly, their God. One daughter is the director of Children’s Ministries at her church and another is a missionary in Kenya. She had her 3rd daughter last November and I’ve yet to hold that precious babe!
There is so much I could say on this subject, but I’ll have to save it for another day.
Blessings to you all!

I am new to “The Well”, but I wanted you to know that your message was wonderful! I had my first child, a daughter, 8 months ago. It is an encouraging reminder to know that it is as simple as teaching her to love Jesus. Thanks.
Blessings,
