Congratulations to our winner Heather!! everyone else get yours at the link below 🙂
Hmmm, I have this movie to give away, American Sniper, (affiliate link there) but I have not actually watched it, I may, or I may not, I don’t do rated R stuff usually, and I don’t like profanity, at all. But I do know what real life is like, and I have seen folks die before, more than I would have liked. And I know that real life happens, and I know that as much as I would like for it to be true, not everyone is saved. I am not for gun control and I know how to use one but I most likely never would. I walk that fine line. I know parts of life are extremely unpleasant. I am not blind or naive. I wish I was raised more innocent. I wish I had never heard confessions with details as a ministers wife, I wish people could just walk in love. I wish there was no hate, or sin, or hurt.
But it is all there.
And while I am not a “go join the military and become a hero” cheer leader, I do think some, who have taken the time to realize the responsibility in such a decision belong there. And I think they deserve our support. Even the dumb young ones who do join for the “I want to be idolized” reasons.
They deserve our love, and our prayers. They deserve to be looked in the eye and not beaten down because of where they have been or what they have done. They are sometimes physically, or emotionally damaged, but it twas done while in the service of this country. They are loved by God, and no matter how bad it was they are redeemable, Christ died so that they can be healed and set free.
And if you go anywhere and think you are honoring your country by listening to the National Anthem, then you better love them too, because they are part of it, no matter what the administration they serve under is doing, or where they have been or what they have done. Because you can’t have the strength without the sweat, and you can’t have the good without the sacrifice.
King David was a warrior. The whole old testament is war. It is real, physically and spiritually. It is serious. It is often ugly.
So, because this movie is real, with lots of blood and accurately disgusting curse words, I say it has a place. It is a true story. It is life. It involves heartache and pain. It involves family. It shows what real life is. May it give you a heart to pray for the young men, and women, in our United States military. Do not idolize them, Jesus is the hero of all heroes. but pray for them, love them, and ask the Lord to use the experience for His glory as only He can.

SYNOPSIS
From director Clint Eastwood comes “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, whose skills as a sniper made him a hero on the battlefield.
But there was much more to him than his skill as a sharpshooter.
Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield, and as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world.
Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the spirit of the SEAL creed to “leave no one behind.” But upon returning to his wife, Taya (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.

I just watched this movie with my children yesterday and it was very inspiring and realistic. I would love to have a copy of it to share with my family because I have two brothers who both served and one did a tour. Both have PTSD so this movie touched my heart at how realistically it portrayed the PTSD life for the family when they return home.

My neighbor’s military husband is about to be deployed in a few days. My heart goes out to them and I wish to pray for his safety. Is his something we can watch since he is being deployed to a dangerous area? Or might it be too much? I would like to watch it nonetheless and add it to my sharing library.
