So, what works for me this Wednesday? Home cooking works for me. As I was taking pictures while we were making a dish the other day my son was kinda laughing. I had to explain to him that I take so many pictures for the “how-to” books I write because most young women have no domestic skills. He has no understanding whatsoever of a young girl that doesn’t know how to cook, clean, bake, sew and tend a baby. He has 5 sisters are they are all quite accomplished in such areas. They are abnormal in today’s world. They also have lots of other skills but that is for another article. But what was getting him recently was when I told him my books are popular because they are basic. Step by step. He still doesn’t understand. That is ok he doesn’t need to 🙂 . But I am ever so grateful for the skills the Lord has taught me and how I am able to pass them along. So that is what works for me today, home cooking works for me. And if you would like to learn how to cook good ole Southern Chicken and Dumplins check out my bookstore Friday, there will be a free ebook waiting for you. Because home cooking works for me and it should for you too.

I hear what you are saying in this post. I am not only thankful to the Lord, but mostly for the Lord placing me in a family where my mother taught me all those ‘home arts’, thus my email addy and then blog title. My wonderful mother, Grace, started when I was young and trained me in oh, so many home keeping skills. All the way from how to properly scrub a floor, to many ‘crafts’ that make the home a homey place. We began telling our sons EARLY to make sure they look at the character of a young lady, not just her looks. Lately, I’ve even been so bold as to tell our youngest to make sure he finds a young lady like his mother!!! Our older son married a wonderful woman who is content to ‘stay at home’. God’s way and roles for men and women are certainly best!
