Well, Crystal Paine is continuing her series on Spring cleaning and she has been in the kitchen. Our kitchen is so often used that most of the things she is discussing are automatic around here. It has to be tat way with a big family. Our kitchen is cleaned from top to bottom 3 times a day and the fridge completely done every couple days, along with the pantry. The floors are swept 3 times daily, all dishes done, counters wiped, microwave cleaned, the works.
Now my house doesn’t not stay perfect all day, but I have to know that everything was completely done at least once every day. Floors, dusting, bathrooms. Since we are ahead of the game there, we are blessed to be able to give my daughter what I would loved to have had. Before she had her baby I told her when the time came we would give her maid service for two weeks. My plan is to give her two weeks with nothing required of her, giving her blessed time with her new babe and her devoted husband. Can you imagine how well adjusted the rest of Mommyhood would be if we all had that opportunity? But most don’t for various reasons. April is blessed with 4 sisters. And I think if we serve one another like the Lord intends then becoming parents becomes more of a blessing and we in turn are honored to have more children happily, and then they can serve their siblings and soon and so on. And pretty soon the Christians will have finally “gone forth and multiplied” and maybe just maybe we can overtake the world!
Had to get a little preaching in there with the spring cleaning! Yes I have a motive in all that I do, to further God’s Kingdom. Anyway, if you want to join Crystal in cleaning your house, here is her link, as for us, we will be cheerfully cleaning someone else’s house today.

Great post and sweet idea. I’ve been blessed to do this with each of my girls when they’ve had babies or when they’ve moved 🙂 God has definitely been in the details, as one of the daughters had her last 3 babies after she had moved to another state. Each time, God timed her birth with my plane reservations, right down to the wire! Had time to help before and after – a blessing to her, and an even bigger blessing for me – the joy of holding those precious babies never dims!!!!
If you do live far from kids/grandkids, want to help, but can’t get out there, I’ve also used Amazon with their Prime option to order diapers and wipes. The cost is about the same as Target, two-day shipping is free (with Prime), and that gives them a bit of a break after a new baby. It’s also good for those times when everyone gets sick at once, gets the chicken pox, etc. I may not always be able help in person, but the diapers, wipes, and even applesauce and cookies (via Amazon), go a long way in blessing them as they raise God’s precious gifts.

What a great gift to give your daughter! My husband and I have three children 3yrs. old and under. I would have gone nuts if my Mom and sister (who only live five minutes away) did not come over to help out. At first in my pride I wanted to do everything myself. I found quickly that there was much a greater blessing for both parties when I lade that aside and enjoyed the help – and great company 😀

yes, she had a homebirth and did great and felt intstantly revived, but I told her just because you CAN do things doesn’t mean you NEED to do everything, so she has let us help, and it has given her time to rest (which leads to faster healing) and gives her plenty of mommy/baby bonding time, they are so adorable, and already inseperable, and daddy too, it is a very precious site, really blesses me, we live about 30 mins from them
