Every week on the way to church we get the Sunday paper. I rarely read the Sunday paper, but I spend the $1.25 anyways. Can you guess why? For the ads of course! And even if I barely buy any groceries I always save much more than $1.25. If cheese is on sale, I could save $10, if vitamins are buy one get one I might save $10, If ground beef is on sale I might save $10. You see rather than buy a little of this or a little of that each week, I spend my grocery budget stocking up on what is on sale. You have to stay ahead of what is in your pantry to do that but if you can you will find you can feed a large family for less than most folks feed 2 or 3 people. So for Frugal Fridays, think on Sunday.

We do the same thing – although we just recently got a years subscription for $85 – dirt cheap. It’d have cost us $65/yr. just in Sunday papers – now we get them everday. Our Sunday papers typically only have coupons and ads for stores like Target, Sears, Kohls, etc. On Wednesdays we get the sales ads for the grocery stores and then do competitor shopping.
Tis true – it DOES save a lot of money!

I’m with you. 🙂 We buy what is on sale, and I have a price book so I know pretty well what the prices are around here. If we stick to hitting only the sales every week, I always have what we need since everything is so cyclical.
