it’s fun working together!

All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty.

~ Proverbs 14:23

We had a fun day working together taking down this barn, we got about half way done, and had a lovely picnic at lunch time. The wood and tin we gleaned will be used to make beautiful barnwood furniture.

storing up good things

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

~ Matthew 6:19-20

I will not leave you as orphans

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:18

Awhile back one of the neighbors called and said someone had just brought them a box of brand new hatched ducklings, apparently something had happened top their momma, but the neighbor didn’t have a way to take care of them and asked if we would take them. One of my daughters regularly hatches ducks and other farm birds in her incubator so she figured no problem. These looked like common mallards but were really little. Well this guy is the only one who survived and he is not a common mallard. We didn’t know until he got full grown that he was a wood duck. Isn’t he adorable? The Lord went through many channels to get him to us, and what appeared to be an orphan was more well cared for than most wild ducks. If Jesus could see a purpose for this little duck, then how much more does He have a purpose for your life?

male and female, one of each

The animals going in were male and female of every living thing,

as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.

~ Genesis 7:16

There is a difference between male and female. And a couple is made up of one of each. Enough said?

It wasn’t until today that I knew a male box turtle has red eyes, but God knew, He always knew, He created them, and He created them different for a reason.

how’s the view?

wIMG_4261

Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar. ~ Isaiah 33:17

What you see will depend on your point of view. If I am standing in the barn and looking out one of the top windows this is what I see. When I look out of a side window I see a completely different thing. If I am intent on looking for the Lord’s point of view in a situation I will find Him at work, however if I am only interested in my own pint of view that is all I will see. His point of view is always better, it brings peace even in a storm, it brings compassion even in the midst of turmoil and it brings understanding even in the midst of frustration. Seek Him.

He leads me beside still waters

2012-07-27_15-52-46_312

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23:1-6

Ever notice in verse 4 it says, “for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” The rod and staff represent discipline and repentance. Chastising and pulling back in. Correction and love. They walk hand in hand, if we obey and are open to His rebuke when we mess up, then we don’t need to fear evil. When we think we got it all figured out and can do things our way we very much need to be afraid, this world without the Lord’s shelter is a very scary place.
