questions and answers–the Genesis Code

138871We recently had the opportunity to see this movie and I must say we enjoyed it enough to watch it more than once already! If you love movies that are family friendly, share the truth of the gospel and also address common day events or questions you will like this movie. It also confirmed why we as a family don’t push for college education. It showed all the ways a young person is pulled, and pushed and coerced away from biblical truths through the whole college process. Yet it also showed how given even a sliver of an open door, the Lord will shine through. I have heard it said that in the end all questioning scientists will run into God. This movie was a wonderful example of just that. It is a great movie for believers and doubters alike. And you can win one!!! Just follow the directions below.

About the Movie:
Kerry Wells (Kelsey Sanders), a college journalist and committed Christian with an effervescent personality, has been assigned to do a story on Blake Truman (Logan Bartholomew) the college’s newest and very popular hockey superstar. As a relationship between them begins to develop Kerry finds that Blake, who hides behind a tough and independent façade, is actually struggling through a difficult personal crisis and that he bears the cross of a secret he has kept hidden for years. Blake rebuffs Kerry’s suggestion that prayer might help ease his burden; he is convinced that modern science completely disproves the Bible, especially the opening verses of Genesis. Kerry — who is herself suddenly confronted with a challenge to her faith on another front — sets out to prove that science and Genesis are not in conflict and her quest leads to a startling revelation. Could it be that what science teaches us about creation and the Story as told in Genesis are both true!

snowed in again

Well, we were hoping to take some chicken and dumplings to our neighbors but it looks like we are stuck again. And facebook is shunning me again, how rude! This is what I get when trying to log in

Account Unavailable

Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Good golly that happens way too often. But I guess it isn’t only my playground so if they choose to do some maintenance every so often who am I to complain.

It is looking like a blizzard again outside.  We are cozy inside but I think my girls have walked 20 miles on the treadmill today while watching Big Valley. I don’t think they like the Barkley’s as much as the their horses. Anything with horses in it. Wonder if anyone ever put together a western where the Barkleys and the Cartwrights met up and rode off into the sunset? Hmm. Think Netflix might have that one? So what does everyone else do when snowed in? I guess we will be getting to eat the neighbors meal if they can’t deliver it :) . Along with the Mexican Feast Georgia decided to make instead of the planned meal. I guess it is my turn on the treadmill :) .

movies for a snowy day

Netflix, Inc.

Well here ya go, perfect for a snowy day. If you don’t already have a Netflix membership, you can sign up here for a free trial and start watching movies ten minutes later on your computer, or connect it to your TV. You can also choose dvds to get by mail, no shipping charges, no late fees if you want to watch them several times. We usually get ours in our mailbox the next day. They have thousands to choose from and even if you are as picky as I am you will find lots you like. There are reviews so you can get more info, and their descriptions are pretty good anyway. There are tons that are helpful for homeschooling also.

Would love to hear about your movie recommendations :) .

worthwhile movies

Netflix, Inc.

I am wanting to add some good movies to my Netflixqueue, any suggestions? We are somewhat picky, no witchcraft or Disney (the two are actually the same if you have not noticed) and no immorality, we love funny stuff as long as it is clean. We like history stuff and can fast forward bloody war stuff if it isn’t half the movie. I will tolerate maybe a couple bad words if they are not worse than Kings James words but not more than that. And I really don’t want to see a bunch of sinful stuff, (been there done that, don’t want to revisit on the screen) but I will if the character gets saved. Loved “The Ride” and “Road to Redemption” and ”Faith Like Potatoes” and movies along those lines and historical stuff like “Amazing Grace” .  Or family stuff.

So, any new ideas?
