Especially this time of year keeping a peaceful atmosphere in the home can be quite a challenge. Everybody is rushing here and there. The date on the calendar seems to be watching us more than we watch it. Even fun things can be stressful when there is a deadline in site. Places to go, people to see, errands to run. And when we get home, things to make, things to bake, folks to call and all for what sake?
Oh yeah, for Jesus.
Show me your ways, LORD,
teach me your paths. Psalm 25:4
This path may look like it leads nowhere, but it is really the drive to my house. When we give folks directions to come over, I always have to tell them to come through the gate and that they can’t see the house until they get halfway up the drive. I guess they have to trust me or not come to visit. It has made more than one person nervous. But when they get here, whether to buy a horse or a barn wood table, or just to visit, they absolutely love it.
Isn’t it the same with God? He sets us on a path where we cannot see the final destination. He tells us to walk His path and we have to trust Him. But oh when we get where He is directing, then there is great reward!
How do you know it is God’s path? Well just as I give folks landmarks along the way, He gives us His Word. Know it and you will know His character, you will know it is His voice when you know His character.

Monday mornings are busy at my house 
. What are you up to this Monday?
Even though there is tons of work to be done here everyday we try to focus our weekends on family and Jesus, even though Jesus is our main focus everyday. So Come Monday morning it is go, go, go! We have a family farm, and homeschool and a business we operate from home, well more than one actually. So when I say go, I mean GO! As usual this is setting up as a busy week. The garden is producing so well it could get ahead of us if we don’t stay on top of things. We defrosted and cleaned out the big deep freezer last week so we are ready to fill it up with new stuff. The tractor is running and about to head to one of the hayfields. I hear whistling while someone is working in the kitchen. Georgia is gathering her crew of horse training assistants and giving them assignments and I have already answered several emails and given quotes on custom farm tables. I have also upgraded several websites and more to go. But first I am getting on then treadmill with the laptop to do some studying. One of this week’s projects is to convert many of my wordpress sites to a Genesis theme (Studiopress). I also have … to make my to-do list because I just thought of another 10 things I need to do today.
Oh yeah, and I have a Tropical Traditions giveaway starting today … gotta get on the treadmill first and get my miles in .
Well it has been quite the exciting weather week. Near record breaking low temps, ice, snow, freezing rain. the kind of stuff that makes you happy you have a cozy home. But you know what? I am ALWAYS happy I have a cozy home. I love my home and I love being in it. I am writing a new book for my bookstore about making your house a home, and you know what the main point is? The big secret. A house is a home when a at-home homemaker lives there. That isn’t the only thing, but it pretty much all stems from it.
So whether the weather is nasty or nice, home is still my favorite place to be. If you are always wanting to run away from home and get out of the house something needs to change. Make your home a home sweet home and enjoy it. You will become more content and your children and hubby will thank you.

Home … is where my heart is .. this is a repeat of a previous post because it is still true and needs to be said again 
There is a lot more to a home that just a house. And home doesn’t usually seem too homey if no one is ever there. I try to plan all my trips to town for once a week, and when you live in the country it really is a trip to town. I love the stability and security it gives my family. They know what time supper is at night and they know who is going to be there, all of us. Way too many children these days are missing that, the security that home is supposed to bring. So that is what works for me this Wednesday, how about you?
