hotter than the health care news

The weather that is, it is HOT and getting hotter by the minute, we are in for record breaking temps here in TN today so I reposting one of my most liked articles…  enjoy.

You’re  HOT!!

You are if you live in the South anyway.   And in the interests of changing that, here is a revised edition of a previous article. Because I am too hot to write much more, .

keeping cool

It has been in the high 90?s with lots of humidity, and it is getting well over 100 today with the heat index at 115. Wow.  So what works for me today? My favorite tips on how to keep cool. Especially if you live in the South.

  1. Pray for rain.
  2. Drink lots of water.
  3. Use insulated cups to keep your ice water cold.
  4. Put plastic containers of water in the freezer that will make ice blocks that will fit in your insulated cups, so you don’t run out of ice.
  5. Cook in a toaster oven or crock pot, and put it somewhere that won’t heat up the whole house.
  6. Pray for rain again.
  7. Eat salads.
  8. Take an extra shower and instead of drying your hair brush and put up in a bun wet. Even the straightest of hair gets a nice wave if dried this way. When dry take out and shake. Keeps you cool and looks great when done.
  9. Turn on the hose and play with your children outside.
  10. If you don’t have a pool, buy a kiddie pool at Walmart and sit with your feet in it.
  11. If you don’t have AC open the windows on the cool side of the house and turn the ceiling fans on.
  12. If you don’t have AC and have 2 stories use 2 box fans to cool off, put one downstairs in a window drawing air in, and the other upstairs in a window blowing air out.
  13. Pray for rain some more and read, “The Long Winter” by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
  14. Make homemade ice cream.
  15. Thank the Lord that you live in America and not Africa.
  16. Get as much as you can done early in the day.
  17. Go visit a friend with a pool.
  18. Go swimming in the creek.

real love

“Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.”

1 John 2:10

This scripture uses the words sister and brother to refer to believers, but I thought this picture was such a cute example. We ought to be able to turn to our fellow believers when we need a hug, or a word of encouragement, or the truth. We should never fear they will gossip or tear us down. We should never fear they will pet on sin or tell us anything other than the truth. And we should be confident in the fact that they love us because He loves them. Those are real believers, the ones we can turn to.

the reality of the supernatural world – Cellar Doors by Lance Lacoax

How about a good book for summer reading? The kind that keeps you on the edge of your seat? The kind that you can’t put down? The kinda that you get sunburned reading because you can’t move? And when you finally do move it is only to go sit on the front porch and continue reading? Want one of THOSE books? How about if it actually can open your eyes and transform your life? How about if it reminds you you aren’t crazy? How about if it revives your prayer life because it gives you a glimpse of the reality all around you that most folks are ignoring? How about if it gives you hope?

Well now that you absolutely know you MUST have this book would you like Cellar Doors
in print or Cellar Doors for your kindle?

It just so happens I have a print AUTOGRAPHED copy! And I have it to give away!

Just like there is a moving current under seemingly still water, there is also a very, very, deadly serious spirit world. And it is anything but still. Cellar Doors gives us a glimpse into that world without glorifying the dark side. It is real, very real, and we need to see it. This book is a novel, a fictional novel, yet it is all too real. Trust me, a very real God will speak to you through this if you are willing to hear. This book is for the saved, the unsaved and the ones who can’t quite figure out where they stand. It is not for the faint of heart.

Can you tell I loved it? Well I did :) . You will too.

from the authors’ description

For those who know me, writing a book like Cellar Doors may seem a bit out of character. I’m not exactly the most serious guy in the room. Humor has generally been my social crutch. But as the story took shape, I found common ground with the characters. The struggles they faced were familiar. Life is not always pretty, nor bright. Sometimes, a soul lost in the dark craves more than humor. Sometimes, a flashlight is more practical. My hope is Cellar Doors will be that flashlight.
