I heart my GPS

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NAVTEQ. All opinions are 100% mine.

I absolutely love my GPS. But probably for different reasons than most folks. You see I am the family navigator. And as folks in my family have figured out, when you do something well it becomes your job. There are some well hidden talents in my family, ha ha. So it used to be that even when I was not the driver I still had to really pay attention and give directions. That would be fine except for the fact that when Momma is not driving she like to sight see. You know, ooh and awe at all the beautiful countryside that God has blessed us to be in the middle of. But you can’t do that if you are having to pay attention. Which is why I love my GPS, because it pays attention for me. But I realized that if I sound like that lady I must be really annoying. Which is another reason to love it. It saves me from being annoying. However that GPS is of no good if it is not kept up to date. Which is where www.updateyourmap.com comes in. As much time as Mom’s spend in the van during the summer, we can not afford to get lost or spend time turning around like we had to today. I wonder if that Amish farm I was looking for today might have been on the GPS? Never leave your GPS at home.

I am glad www.updateyourmap.com can keep me up to date. Now if I can just get that easy of an upgrade for everything else in life. :)

hurting families

I have talked to or heard from more hurting families this week than ever before. Stable families, families with a strong relationship with the Lord. One mom told me she was convinced that her child had been abducted by aliens and replaced with an imposter. Overnight the child seemed to have changed into another person. I am not talking about marginal Christians or compromised Christians, or even lukewarm Christians (is there such a thing? ) I am talking about pillars in the communities of believers, qualified elders, parents of Godly offspring. And yet they are falling. Being picked off like cans on a fence being used for target practice.

I have a Word for Godly families. Satan wants your children and he doesn’t play fair. I have a Word for Godly young people, if you have been living your life for Jesus you have a target on your back! And yes I mean on your back, because he will sneak up on you. If he can get you to even entertain a thought he has you. Beware!

Get serious with God and influence others to do the same before it is too late.

June is Dad month

yhst-80204245038479_2107_488903613 Time to start thinking about gifts for Dad, because Father’s Day is just around the corner. What gift plans do you have? Sadly enough I no longer have a living Dad, so Fathers day is a bit sad for me. But I do have a hubby, and we have several youngins so I get to help lots of children come up with great gift ideas :) . Sometimes we do a big group gift and other times we do individual, but either way I love personalized gifts! Like this great no parking sign, how fun!

And of course since I am the mom, I had to take a look at jewelry for mom. More personalized great gifts I think I really like the name charm necklace. Anytime of year is a great time for a gift for mom. Hint Hint. Any Mom would love a gift that incorporates her children’s names.

So, have you picked out that great Fathers Day gift yet? Will it be a sign, or a keepsake box or a poster or even a Personalized Decorative Life Preserver? Hmmm, what great gift ideas, maybe more than one!Maybe one from each child even, this could get really good :)

menu plan Monday June 7

For my Menu Plan Monday post June 7,

I am adding several new recipes at my recipe site . I am working on new ebooks about making tamales and taquitos. What else would you like?

June is kind of a tough month for me, more on that later, lots of dates on the calendar that bring memories that are sweet but of folks I loved who are no longer here. I know that Jesus is my peace and my strength yet having a tender heart that loves also sometimes hurts.  I think He allows us to feel hurts to keep the compassion in us alive.

I am thankful for my family, now onto part of family life… the menu

Monday-   gourmet salad with grilled chicken

Tuesday-   hamburgers and potato salad

Wednesday-  stuffed quesadillas

Thursday-   meatloaf and pasta

Friday –   taquitos

Saturday –  taco salad
