do all things unto the Lord

autumn-on-the-farmWell yesterday they cleaned all the yards, and did all the farm chores and raked acres of leaves and dumped in the compost piles and all that outside stuff. Today it is like a cleaning crew arrived at my house. Every room gets the equivalent of a spring cleaning, complete with taking everything off the walls and even cleaning those. Dusted, washed waxed, polished. Need to Breathe is blasting from the stereo and is is a flurry of energy in here. Homemaker Hannah is doing what she does best, decorating of course and adding all of her touches, and hanging the new curtains she talked me into buying. Soon they will be done and start baking. Homemade bread, rolls, pies like you cannot believe, homemade cranberry sauce, fudge, and so on.

And the funny thing is…….. it will all be done and an incredible dinner started, and we will finally sit down for a minute as the guys walk in the door and say, “sure is a nice thing you girls have time to sit around all day” .  :)

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

715627: God Is with Me through the Day God Is with Me through the Day

I recently received two really cute books to review. God is with me through the Night and God is with me through the Day. They are both adorable with charming pictures. Perfect to read to your little one or as a beginning reader for them to try. They are simple and both designed to give your children a sense of peace, that comes from the Lord.

things learned while shopping today :)

autumn-on-the-farm

Well I went to town with my youngins today to shop for the upcoming holiday feast. We love special occasions around here and Thanksgiving is one of our favorites.  We had a very productive day and as usual I learned a few things. Just thought I would share. Just in case you wondered. We did the normal errand day complete with all of my once a week or once every two weeks stops.

  • it is possible to get all of your errands done with 5 children along in 3 hours if, and only if you have a healthy prayer life :)
  • it is possible to take the 4 door car instead of the 12 pass van and actually even still fit 6 fifty pound bags of feed from the farmers co-op in the trunk
  • it is possible to have fun AND keep your sanity if you have done your homework
  • the rules have changed, in the South everyone shops for a holiday on the Monday morning before the holiday, even though there are usually only moms and small children and a quiet store that time of day
  • if you take homemaker Hannah with you she will completely redecorate your house for under $100 but trust me you won’t have any change :) but it will look great and you will have a new look for your company
  • Walmart matches competitors ads but you won’t need them, all their prices were cheaper this week
  • Krogers has the best flour and best everyday price on chocolate chips
  • Krogers also has a clearance rack that usually has great marked down toothpaste, like at 25 or 49 cents a tube, but if you live near me you won’t ever see it because I snatched up all 16 tubes
  • Walmart no longer has their own brand of marshmellow cream, chocolate chips or other good things they should
  • popcorn chicken is a good treat for well behaved children
  • the local pet store will pay 8-10 dollars a piece for baby bunnies :) and buy the whole litter, which gives your young person her own spending money
  • the McDonalds in Walmart will let you refill your Dr Pepper cup 18 times in one shopping excursion
  • eggs are not on sale the week your hens decide to stop laying
  • flashlight replacement bulbs for a rechargable 18 volt flashlight are way too expensive
  • 10 year old boys are harder to drag out of Lowes than hubby, but he is a good reminder to tell me to get flashlight bulbs
  • if you find a perfect tablecloth at a really good price but there are no matching cloth napkins, buy a second tablecloth to make the napkins from,  so they match
  • if you leave your children in the car with an old enough sibling and run in to get one more thing and return to find that sibling reading the bible out loud to her younger siblings who are perfectly content it sure does warm your heart
  • dinner sure smells good to come home to when you start it before you leave the house :)

and how was your Monday?
