in the beginning was the word, and He still is

Some think that Jesus was not always. Yet the book of John tells us He is the Word and has been since the beginning. They are “they” and yet unseperable. I have read Isaiah a thousand time but chapter 43 has recently really jumped out at me.

I, even I, am the LORD,
and apart from me there is no savior.I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.

More than once in this chapter He calls Himself our savior. The God of the Old Testament and the God of the New are the same God. Grace and mercy are not the absence of judgement they are the understanding of it. He means business and He is not a man that He should lie. His love is everlasting, and His forgiveness is unending, but it is only understood by and available only for those who call upon His name.

There is only one way. Surrender. We find peace when we admit that He is more of a God than ourselves can ever be.
