goodbye garden

Well it appears it may be time to say goodbye to the garden. Soon enough anyway. The tomatoes are about done as well as the rest all except for the peppers. We started some more lettuce that is looking pretty good but with a freeze already I will be surprised if it gets big enough to do anything with. We did pretty well this year and got a lot of vegetables put up. The weather was decent and the bugs not too bad. We will do even better next year with this organic bug patrol kills over 40 insects. The worst were those squash beetles that look like overgrown ladybugs. We were using sevin dust and while they say it isn’t dangerous I would rather use organic pest control. We actually start planning the next garden about the time the current one is finishing up. We figure out what worked, what didn’t and what we wanted to do differently. Pretty much every year we decide that we need more tomatoes. And every year we perfect our method of putting them up. We made some incredible home canned tomato sauce this year. Better than ever. And we need more peppers, like my friend Evangeline’s big sweet red peppers, I think she said they were gypsy something. Hmmm, need to look that up.
