dreaming of high speed
Well we are still trudging along with our satellite internet. My contract is up this coming month. I thought for sure that w would have another option before the two years was up and I was actually wondering how I was going to get out of it when it happened. Problem is it has not happened. We still have no options. Either super slow country dial up, slow as in Molasses in wintertime, or slow as in the further south you get the slower they move, as in well you know s l o w . Or we can do the satellite deal. you would think we lived in Siberia. Come on folks I am only 18 miles from a Super Wal-mart, surely somebody can get me high speed access here.

So I started dreaming again. My daughter lives in the country and she has Charter Cable internet, so why can’t I? Well it gets worse, or better, depending on how you look at it. Charter is everywhere these days. There is Charter on Facebook and even Charter on Twitter, but alas no Charter on my road. And for no good reason, it is even a paved road! But no they are not here yet. So that was the bad part. But here is the good part, well there are two good parts. The first is the Camaro Sweepstakes. When I looked up the Charter webpage I found out that they are giving away a Camaro. Now I would rather win a Mustang but I would take a Camaro. The second good thing is now that I am stuck with satellite at least my bill will be less, and it has actually been in a cooperative mood lately. I guess it is still better than moving to the city.

I feel for you with slow response time on the internet and I pray your answer will come soon. However, I have to say that Charter would not be my first choice.
We had Charter in California and I was ecstatic to find that they were not the ones holding the monopoly on cable internet here in Arizona. We had high speed internet alright, when it worked. What we had mostly was problems with installation, all three services, billing, customer service, you name it. And we were not the only ones.
I looked them up on the internet and found that they had a class action law suit against them for several of the same issues we had. In fact, they had preprinted Hallmark apology cards they sent out when you complained a certain number of times.
I had so many problems with them that I had a several page Microsoft Word doc I called the Charter Incompetence Log where I kept track of all the people I spoke with, what they said, what they didn’t do and what times I spoke with them. They were so awful the first few months that we didn’t pay a bill for 6 months due to all the compensation they gave us for not having service!
So you may look on it instead, perhaps, as a blessing.

If that is my solution you are right, I am in trouble! So far that is the only thing even close. Where I live we can get dial up, at 1/3 the normal slow speed, or satellite which is Hughes and normally worse than bad. Charter has a cable about a mile from here and regularly sends us stuff saying we can get it but when the guy comes he says it isn’t here yet (he also says they have been saying anyday now for several years.) No phone line DSL here either, can you imagine that, this is America, we should all have options!
