a walk in the country

For those of you who long for country life I thought I would share some pictures with you. The first thing you see when you go for a walk around here are spotted ponies. We have a whole herd of these little guys. I really should sell some, anybody interested?

And of course my “sweet baby” aka “SB” waiting for my attention.

This is our wonderful Sweet Pea, believe it or not she is a hardworking farm dog. As sweet as she looks she can also be ferocious if she thinks you are threatening something on our farm. By night she fends off coyotes and guards the livestock and …..

by day she guards the treehouse.

My neighbors barn, I love taking pictures of this barn.

The pastures are finally getting green again.

This is one of our retired horses, nearly blind and old as the hills, but oh so sweet.  He follows voice commands.

This is Honey, actually her registered name is different, she is a palomino foundation Quarter Horse from the famous Doc Bar, and she is due to foal anytime. She is bred to a black Quarter Horse, anybody with a knowledge of horse genetics want to give a guess on the foal’s color?

And now a short version of “till the cows come home.”  Blossom sometimes like the “other” side of the fence, and although she usually comes when called, on this day we had to go get her. She was way up in the woods.

She finally started mosying on down the hill.

She jumped back over the fence, then it became a race.

Others joined in the fun, with an orange cat out in front.

And back to mosying after crossing the finish line.

Dignified spectator.

The end result.

Well this is really the end result.

It is fun living in the country.
