John 3:16 on the Gator for God

when the world gives you a platform….. preach from it!

NCAA football star Tim Tebow helped bring the spotlight to his team and his faith Thursday night, leading No. 1 Florida to a 24-14 win over No. 2 Oklahoma for the BCS championship.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is seen during the second quarter of the BCS Championship NCAA college football game against Oklahoma in Miami, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009.

The Gators quarterback ran 22 times for 109 yards and completed 18 of 30 passes for 231 yards.

Other numbers for that night? 3 and 16.

John 3:16, that is.

As he has done throughout the season, Tebow used his black under-eye markings Thursday night to share Scripture, this time donning the most popular Bible verse in America.

For many, the reference was simply a personal form of self-expression, no different another athlete’s lucky gloves or gold-colored shoes.

“Tebow’s religious expression has been a big part of the wholesome image we see described in every single feature written about him,” wrote sports columnist Tom Herrera in the NCAA Football Fanhouse.

“If Tebow wants to put his Christian faith on a pedestal, so be it – it doesn’t distract me in the slightest,” he added. ….. read more and see the picture here

I find people’s response interesting, one guy was offended, said he didn’t want to be prosetylized . Interesting that the Gospel is so offensive to some, if they don’t believe it is true then what are they so afraid of? Anyway it is a good article.

inauguration brainwash

Well, I don’t know if I can even explain my feelings on the inaugural line up. I will try later today, but I will put it this way, I feel very uneasy. Along the same lines I got this article in an email yesterday Four Ways Our Culture Is Brainwashing Us .  Must say it hits the nail right on the head. All of this, “make everyone happy” stuff that is coming across the media is making me sick to my stomach because it isn’t real.  There is only one way to eternal life outside of hell. That is Jesus, and not just knowing who he is but truly intimately KNOWING Him, and Him KNOWING you. All roads do not lead to Heaven. Only the straight and narrow road does.

And while we are at it let me give you my revelation of hell. Many years ago we had a relative who had a drug and alcohol addiction. He said a black cloud followed him. He and my husband took out two of our horses for a ride, the relative couldn’t ride his own horse because he had gotten into a drunken accident and his horse was still laid up. So he took one of ours. Needless to say there was another accident and our horse ended up being shot after his head went through the windshield of a car. Th relative felt so guilty he could no longer cope with life. he later committed suicide. The Lord spoke to me an said that is what hell is like. All guilt, no hope. Crying out to God with no answer. Not that God is not there but that we can remove ourselves from Him. We do it, He doesn’t do it. Hell is no hope. Ever. It is eternal death as opposed to eternal life.

I see America being blinded. I see them willingly putting on very dark shades for the sake of being one of the crowd, the feel good crowd. And eventually becoming blind and willing to stay that way because the light (of the Gospel) will hurt.

Lord help us. Help me to be a brighter light.
