wise words about the economy, will it fall? should we be concerned?

Some wise words from my dear friend Denise whom I consider to be very wise. What is the wisest thing she is constantly saying? This. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

Denise’s perspective: The US economy is HUGE. It REALLY takes a LOT to rattle it significantly.

The news media gets their ‘thing’ from *being* negative. If 4 economists are positive, they’ll give air time to the one who is negative. You’ve seen this in good times, yes? We’ve been fed so much negativity, I wonder, do we really know what’s going on?

If the US economy does hit a bump in the road… let’s look at history. The large US economy and the enterprising Americans pull out of it in just a few years.

But the REAL issue isn’t the US economy, it’s our respective PERSONAL economies! It’s one’s own budget that is *real* concern, yes? So if you can pick up a part time job, or cut back your expenses, then YOU can make it ok. THAT is under YOUR control. You can ACT. (This mindset is what attracts me to Dave Ramsey so much. He’s part financial guy, part motivational speaker saying YOU CAN DO IT! And here’s how.)

The *fear* that the US economy will go down … FEAR is not to be the Christian’s constant companion, right? But the media feeds us FEAR about the HUGE issue that we canNOT control. That’s paralyzing.

And for the Christian, the bottom line is: What is the Lord doing in MY life at THIS time? HE is our Jehovah Jireh, our provider. HE is the One whose perfect love casts out all fear. HE is the Friend who sticks closer than a brother. HE is the one who is scraping the dross off our lives. HE is the one who is pruning branches that aren’t bearing fruit. HE is the one who loves us more than we can understand. Trust HIM.

So my encouragement would be to:
Think locally (family budget), not nationally.
ACT where you can.
Pray for the Lord to fill you with His perfect love and cast out all fear.
Ask for the faith to trust Him more. (Faith is a gift, not something you can manufacture: see Eph. 2:8-10)

Problem with the US economy? That can be *good* news where it encourages people to depend on Jesus more!

hmmm, life today and announcements

I have a million things to do and cannot seem to get focused on any of them. I am still tired from the long weekend/week/month. and when the weather goes from hot to cooler/damp, it takes my sinuses and head a couple days to catch up. It feels like a cold trying to get me but isn’t. So all that to say, I just cannot get moving. We went to April’s house yesterday and did a little carpenter and farm hands work. It makes such  difference to have a crew. Watching my crowd work is reason enough for anyone to believe in big families. It is absolutely beautiful out today, nice breeze, looks like there is a faint thought of rain somewhere in the heavenlies but not close enough. The birds are chirping The washing machine that we moved down by the creek is attempting to catch us up on about 12 loads of laundry. I might share that story later. Mercy wants me to help her read alllllll day long. Oh to be so young and excited. Every word is a new adventure.

I also need to finish watching “The Business of Being Born” that I got from Netflix.  It is about the controversy about homebirth verses hospital birth in America. Very informative. Nothing I didn’t already know but useful info when you are talking to folks who don’t want to believe things just cause they are true. Funny how some people won’t take God’s word for it, but they will take the word of someone whom they perceve to be a professional. I will be writing a review on this movie later.

I need to finish my mailing list set up for my bookstore, I am giving away my “Stories from the Funny Farm” ebook to every new subscriber. It will be part of my Grand Opening of my Bookstore tomorrow.  I have a couple more announcements here while I am at it. My dear friend Jill Novak and her precious family have stepped out in faith with a vision God gave them about ministering to families that have children with disabilities. You can read about it here Hopeful Farm, the pictures of the children on there are so adorable, that is what true beauty is. And one more thing. My friend Tawra of Living on a Dime finally has her famous Dining on a Dime book in an ebook format now. You can get it for only $10 until the end of the week.

Hmm, maybe now that I don’t have to remember those things, I can get back to the remaining 993 things on my list. Maybe. After my cappuccino.

Tackling a budget, oh my

Well for today’s Tuesday tackle I need to re-evaluate our monthly budget. I have been really working the last few months to get some things down and it has helped tremendously but now I need to work it out on paper. So, that is my big tackle for today.  We don’t have a regular stable income so it isn’t as easy as it seems  .

I not only put all the amounts on a spreadsheet, but then figure things down to the penny and mile. As an example, if we spend x amount on gas, how many miles/trips can I use it for. And so on. I will be putting my results on my Bless-my-Budget.com site
