chili relleno improv

Here is my tasty Works for me Wednesday tip. At our house we love Mexican food. I should say LOVE. We are sort of part Mexican, not by heredity but geographically, we are from California. Add to that I have this cooking thing in my blood, if I can imagine the taste I can make it. Well, last time I said something about all the wonderful peppers in my garden someone suggested we make chili rellenos. That was a thought I could not escape. But none of our peppers were the kind big enough to stuff. So what is my big WFMW tip? Improvise!

What we came up with is a chili relleno casserole of sorts. First we start the sauce, in your blender add 5 squeezed fresh tomatoes, 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 onion diced, and 1 red bell pepper diced,  puree. Pour into sauce pan and turn on med. Then into a bowl add the other half diced onion, and 12 to 15 chopped peppers. We used some sort of chili pepper (I forget all that we planted) bell peppers and several jalapenos, yes we like to live on the edge.

Then go back to your blender and add 3 fresh eggs, whip till frothy, then add one and a half cups flour, a T of baking powder and 1 cup milk, blend a little more until well mixed.

Then take a large skillet an add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, heat to frying temp. Pour in the batter, and add peppers on one side (think stuffed omelet). Then add 2 cups shredded fiesta blend cheese.

Turn your pan down and cover. Meanwhile your sauce should be bubbling and thickening.

When you have determined your batter is done, use a large spatula and flip empty side up on top of stuffed side. Again think omelet. Cover pan back up and leave on low until inside is thoroughly cooked, or take out of pan and microwave a bit more if the outside is cooking before the inside.

Then serve on plate with sauce spooned over it. This has the same flavor as a chili relleno and is absolutely addictive! Even when Hannah adds too many jalapenos and you are breathing fire. They like it that way around here. You could roast the peppers first but we like the not-all-the-way-cooked fresh taste.

pro-life for real, Palin, Sanger, Hitler, and Lou Engle

Whether you agree with the nomination of Sarah Palin or not, you have to admit that God is answering prayers. I think a lot due to Lou Engle and The Call. This country is being forced to view the subject of killing babies just because some folks see them as unfit. Long before Sarah Palin was even a common name she was already in the news by ruffling the feathers of the pro-killing folks. What did she do that was so outrageous? She gave birth to a Downs child. They were worried that it would affect the killing rate. They were right. Because of the action of one woman. Sarah Palin reminds me of Esther. You know folks would have had a lot to say about her being part of a harem. But God had big plans. His ways are not our ways. The baby killers remind me of Hitler. Same thought pattern, same spirit. However ugly that is they are still redeemable if they repent, but until then their motives must be exposed. There are lots of answers and most of them really wrong. But there is one answer that is very right. Very, very right. Prayer.

Did you know that the founder of Planned Parenthood had actual ties to Hitler? And the KKK. Did you know that she was also the one who brought the birth control movement to popularity in America? Did you know that her main objective was and still is to kill off Christians and especially Black Americans? Her name is Margaret Sanger. She was a beautiful and brilliant woman. But she was led by an anti-Christ spirit that is still alive in America today.  Here are some of her words. You can find more here, and here. Beware, it will make you vomit.

“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”
Margaret Sanger (editor). The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1. Reprinted in Woman and the New Race. New York: Brentanos Publishers, 1922.

“Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”
Margaret Sanger. Woman, Morality, and Birth Control. New York: New York Publishing Company, 1922. Page 12.

“We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”
Margaret Sanger’s December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon’s Woman’s Body, Woman’s Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976.

What can you do about it?

  1. For one, get your head out of the sand.
  2. For two recognize that it is YOUR babies that are targeted.
  3. For three, pray like it is life or death.
  4. Because it is.
  5. WWJD?

About The Call—California sits in a fog of moral confusion. Recently, disregarding the votes of the people, the California Supreme Court legalized homosexual marriage. The entire world listened as the mayor of San Francisco boasted, “As California goes, so goes the rest of the nation. It’s inevitable, this door is wide open. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. This is the future, and it’s now.”  It’s true: the world is looking to California for moral leadership even while California finds herself caught in the snare of idolatry and self-worship. http://www.thecall.com

tackling apples, messy bedroom, cartoons, and bloomers

Fot this tackle it Tuesday, we have a few things on our tackle list.

  • One is more apples. They have to be turned into something that will last, so we will be making more applesauce and I think we will make some pie filling and freeze it. I am limited on freezer space this year as our big freezer just up and quit on me. I need to find another, you should see how packed I have this small one.
  • Another tackle is to deal with some of the clutter in our bedroom/office/catch everything room. We have a 20×20 bedroom and it is the only one on the main floor so it tends to catch everything. There is a huge canopy king bed, 2 dressers, a big treadle sewing machine in a cabinet, a big corner office hutch, and a large bookcase, and except for the bed they all have too much stuff on them. So I start at one corner and determine a working area, take off everything, put it in a laundry basket. Then thoroughly clean the area, from floor to ceiling. Then sort through the basket and put eveything in it’s proper place or get rid of it. then go on to the next area. then finish by vacuuming the whole room. it is easier to do a room like this in bites.
  • Another tackle I have on my list is to write a review of Kimberly eddy’s new book about Creating Cartoons. It is wonderful! I plan to use it in our homeschooling. If you want to see how we use cartoons in our homeschool, come back Thursday and read about it, and I will give you a link to get her book.
  • And another quick thing I need to tackle is to add the new fabric order buttons to my daughter’s site Jumpinbloomers.com. She has some new fabrics to choose from and already has the pictures up but I need to add to the order buttons.
  • And one more thing, this is turning in to a tackle it week thing   I still need to work on some of our audio files, would y’all like to hear some worship music here?

Ok, I need to get busy, now remember  “delegation” is the name of the game  .
