serious learning

Those of you who have big families know what a joy it is to have commercial equipment in the home. Actually these days it is downright stylish to have restraunt appliances in the kitchen. Oh the thought of 6 burners! But today I was thinking serious desks for serious learning. I was looking at this site Workbenches and day dreaming about how nice it would be to have commercial type school workstation. It would have a space for the CPU underneath, file drawers, a nice long safe powerstrip and keyboard drawers! Just the thought of all that organization! Ah well, time to wake up.

fire and focus

I need to get focused today! I really need to get some work done. I have this big FireSale we are organizing for next week. Why? Because April is getting married and they want a big wedding, and we the bride’s parents get to pay for it all, and even with lots of dime squeezing, WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE! So, we are hoping, and praying to raise the needed funds to pay for it. But I need to get it organized. But instead of planning the sale, my mind keeps drifting to planning the wedding.

And then,  the other thing. Last night I was blessed to spend the evening with Skeet Savage. She is the editor and publisher of Homeschool Digest and An Encouragaing Word and Brush Arbor Quarterly magazines. She is incredible, with a message of HOPE and REDEMPTION! Have you ever been part of an experience with the Lord that you knew was so much bigger than you could realize and how you just need to process it all? Well that was last night. I feel like I spent time with Moses. Skeet is a modern day deliverer. I can’t even put into words all that the Lord did last night. Maybe I can share more later. But I would sure like to spend the day just pondering. Would you pray that I get everything with this sale in place at the speed of light!

And then would you pray that we find the perfect place for April’s shower in 2 weeks, eeks!

And then would you pray that my day falls into place?

on top of all that, it is 28 degrees out, snowing, I have no reason to get out (unless we run out of t.p.that I forgot to buy) and I feel the Lord pulling, I really just want to spend the day praying!

how to feed a crowd #1 CHILI!

The question is, “how do you feed a crowd on a budget?” We use a big electric turkey roaster instead of a crock pot, the crock pot isn’t big enough for us.

1 pound ground beef, browned with 2 chopped onions

1 gal can tomatoe sauce

1 gal can diced tomatoes

(2) 1 gal cans pinto beans, or one each of pinto and black beans

spices to your liking- chili powder, cajun seasoning, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper

put all in roaster at noon, turn on 350, serve around 5, stir every once in awhile

we also serve grated cheese, chopped jalapenos and sour cream as toppings, and cornbread muffins on the side, you can cook some of them with added cheese and jalapenos

you can serve chili in styrofoam cups with plastic spoons if you need easy clean up

this should easily serve 30 people unless my son Beau is one of them :)

be oyster aware!

What did one oyster say to the other? It said, “get cooked!” I just love  Gulf oysters, always have, but I just read something new about them. It could be unsafe to eat them raw. They are still perfectly wonderful cooked or even raw if they are harvested in the right way at the right time. So know where your osters come from and how they have been processed. Educate yourself to see if you are an “at risk” oyster eater. And just to be sure, cook your oysters. Oysters have lots of wonderful nutritional benefits, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Ever had oysters Rockefeller? Seafood doesn’t get much better than that. Take it from a California girl! Click here for free oyster recipes.

Hannah homemaker

I just love Crystal Paine over at Biblical Womanhood she always keeps us focused at home!  Her post today was about organizing drawers. She really was asking though for any tips on making our house a home. One of my daughters is absolutlely gifted at this, so I thought I would share some of her tips.

  1. She decorates with doilies, puts them under vases, on end tables with a framed picture on top, anywhere that needs a little dressing up.
  2. She always has the kitchen (dining) table cleared, clean and with a clean cloth tablecloth and cloth napkins.
  3. She makes her food pretty! And very tasty!
  4. She uses extras like a lace curtain piece spread diagonal accross the center of the big table cloth.
  5. She wears aprons.
  6. She likes to do others’s laundry, and fold it and put it away.
  7. She bakes wonderful bread and uses an egg wash on top.
  8. She likes to host tea parties.
  9. She puts on worship cd’s when it is most needed.
  10. She is a best friend to whoever is having a bad day.

it isn’t just the babies who suffer

I have long said that those who promote abortion saying they “care” about the Mothers are LIARS! Here is proof

A British artist, expressing remorse and regret, hanged herself after
aborting her twins when she was eight weeks pregnant, London’s Sunday
Telegraph reported.

“I should never have had an abortion,” Emma Beck wrote in a note she
left. “I see now I would have been a good mum.”

The note continued: “I told everyone I didn’t want to do it, even at
the hospital. I was frightened, now it is to late. I died when my
babies died. I want to be with my babies: they need me, no one else
does.”

Beck, 30, was found in her home on Feb. 1 and pronounced dead the
following day, her 31st birthday.

She terminated the pregnancy after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend,
who “reacted badly” to her pregnancy, the Telegraph reported.

You cannot kill an innocent child and feel nothing.
