more streamflow, huh?

NASA Science News for November 30, 2007From the deserts of the American southwest to the pine forests of the Deep South, drought-weary residents have one thing on their minds: “I wish it would rain!” Technically, what they should be wishing for is “more streamflow.” Find out why in today’s story:

I finally got

High Speed Satellite Internet NOW AVAILABLE!!

Well, we finally got satellite Internet service! They guy had to jump through hoops to find a spot to get a clear signal from this (out in the backwoods of TN ) rural spot. So now I am attempting to do 20 things at once instead of my normal 10. Is it normal to have 22 windows open at once? Anyways, this will save me time and money. Although it is much faster than our barely 24kbps dial up, it still doesn’t seem as fast as it should be, could my wireless router be the problem?

My connection says I am at 54 mbps. I have a westell router. Can anybody recommend an inexpensive one that would be faster? This is the one that came with our DSL service we just disconnected at our church.

Another question, my laptop does not want to connect to the Internet since the change. It will connect to the local network but not to the Internet. I got it going once for awhile but the next time I turned it on it had the same problem, sound familiar to anyone?

OK enough chatting, but just wanted remind y’all, even though we are in pre-holiday superspeed, ( and I haven’t even had caffeine yet) don’t forget to take time to enjoy your little people. I may not get as much accomplished in this kingdom by stopping for every question or to look every time my sweet 5 yr old Mercy sign languages, “I love you”, (she thinks it isn’t interrupting if she isn’t talking out loud) but I am laying up treasures in HIS KINGDOM!

love to all,     Penny

family newsletters

Do you send a family newsletter this time of year? Why only this time of year? How about quarterly. Or to relatives for each child’s birthday? Living so far from most of my family for the last 15 years has taught me new ways to communicate. Email newletters are by far the best. You can add pictures and even sound clips. I am currently working on a new ebook that teaches exactly how to do all of this. But for now I urge you to gather your pictures into a file that you might want to share. They need to be in digital format, so if they aren’t already, scan them. You don’t want too many in your newsletter, maybe 3 or 4. And if you have a video on YouTube you can link to it. Have your children gather around and sing something and you can record it, most often with equipment you already have on your computer. Gather it up and this afternoon I will show you where to get a free trial membership with a great email news sending place. They say it is for marketing but we also use it for family and ministry communication. Get your ideas flowing and check back with me this afternoon. Got any questions? Leave me a comment.
